Texas Tech Track and Field Cancels Home Meet

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's and women's track and field teams will not host the Texas Tech University Medical Center Relays this weekend as originally scheduled Director of Track and Field Greg Sholars has announced. The meet was scheduled to take place on March 27-28 at R.P. Fuller Stadium on the Texas Tech campus.
Instead, most of the men's and women's team will travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to compete in the Southwestern Track and Field Invitational Meet on Saturday, March 27 at Clark Stadium. The meet features several collegiate teams including top-ranked University of Texas and SMU, as well as, high school teams from around the area. The Invitational is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with the women's javelin and conclude at approximately 4 p.m. with the men's and women's 4X400 relay .
Women's distance runners Leigh Daniel and Kristen Koppes will travel to Stanford, Calif, to compete in Stanford Invitational on Saturday. The Invitational is one of the nation's premier meets for distance runners and offers and excellent opportunity for both to post NCAA championship qualifying marks.
