Texas Tech Track and Field Competes at Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Tech men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Texas Invitational in Austin, Texas today. On the day, the Red Raiders were led by Shameron Turner who provisionally qualified for the NCAA outdoor championships with a time of 20.83 in the 200 meters to take third in the race. During the indoor season, Turner competed in the NCAA championships in the 200 meters. Another top competitor for the men was David Leigh who took second in the 5,000 metes with a time of 14:55.97
For the women, Tracey Anderson was the top Texas Tech women's finisher. She took third in the shot put with a throw of 48.08 meters. Others placing in their events were Kaneshia Polk taking sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.64 meters and Tara Hangge finishing third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:00.83.
Texas Tech will compete at the University of Texas-El Paso next weekend.
