TEMECULA, Calif. - The Texas Tech women's golf team slipped into a tie for fourth place with Texas Christian University after the second round of the Pioneer Electronic Bruin Classic being held at the Menafee Lakes Country Club. The Red Raiders were tied for second place with TCU after the first round. Oklahoma State leads the tournament with a two-day total of 593 (297-296).
The Red Raiders shot a second round total of 302, thirteen strokes better than the previous day, but watched as UCLA and Pepperdine slipped into a tie for second ahead of Tech. The Red Raiders are out of second place by only two strokes.
Freshman Jennifer Newhouse continues to lead Tech after shooting a 74, giving her a two-day total of 151, placing her in a tie for sixth individually. Jamie Vannoy is second among the Red Raiders and tied for 18th overall. She has a total of 155. Brooke Lowrance and Heather Wrede are tied for 31st at 158. Beth Covington is alone in 44th place with a total of 161. Oklahoma State's Maria Boden leads the tournament with a total of 143, followed by teammate Jo Jo Robertson at 145.
The three-day event will conclude with an 18 hole shotgun start on Wednesday, Feb. 24 beginning at 8:00 am, with an award ceremony immediately after.
