Tech Women Claim Seventh Place

LUBBOCK, Texas - Freshman Stephanie Dukes posted a three-round total of 227 to finish in the top 10 in her first collegiate tournament and lead Texas Tech to a seventh-place finish at the Big 12 Fall Preview in Lincoln, Neb.
Texas Tech finished 38 shots behind tournament winner and host Nebraska. Oklahoma State finished runner-up followed by Oklahoma, Baylor, Missouri and Texas A&M. Trailing Texas Tech were Kansas State, Texas, Colorado, Kansas and Iowa State. Oklahoma State?s Maria Boden took the individual title with a three-round total of 220. She shot a tournament low of 69 in the final round to claim the win.
Dukes (North Richland Hills, Texas) turned in rounds of 75, 74 and 78. Jamie Vannoy (SR, Sandy, Ore.) finished in a tie for 15th with a three-round score of 231. She posted the lowest round of the tournament for the Red Raiders with a 71 on the final day. Priscilla Hunt (JR, Phoenix, Ariz.) shot 241 and finished in a tie for 46th place, while Jennifer Newhouse (SO, Bryan, Texas) finished 54th with a 245 stroke total. Heather Wrede rounded out the scoring for Tech with a three-round total of 251 and a tie for 61st place.
The Red Raiders continue their fall season Sept. 23-25 at the Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The event is hosted by the University of New Mexico.
