Tech Finishes 12th at Dick McGuire

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech posted its best team round of the tournament with a 306 in the final round to finish 12th at the Jones Intercable/Dick McGuire Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, N.M. The University of New Mexico, the tournament host, and Southern California finished as the runners-up in the event played at the UNM Championship Golf Club.
Arizona ran away with the overall team title, posting a three-round total of 880, 16 strokes better than the runners-up. New Mexico State and Texas rounded out the top five.
The Red Raiders opened with a 307 in the three-day event, but struggled on the second day with a 316. Tech finished 53 shots off the lead. Tech finished the event ahead of Oregon State, Colorado State, Brigham Young, Southern Methodist, Kansas and UCLA.
Jamie Vannoy closed the tournament with a team-high 71 in the final round to finish in a tie for 25th place. Stephanie Dukes (t32), Heather Wrede (t55), Priscilla Hunt (t65) and Melanie Hunt (t85) also competed in the event.
Texas Tech hits the links again when the Red Raiders host the Jeannine McHaney Invitational Oct. 11-12 at the Lubbock Country Club.
