LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men?s basketball head coach James Dickey announced today that senior forward Cliff Owens will redshirt the 1999-2000 season.
?We?re disappointed that Cliff will not be able to play,? Dickey said. ?However, we are excited about having a healthy Cliff Owens back next season. This is a bonus in terms of retaining a player with his talent and experience.?
Owens, who has not played for the Red Raiders this season, underwent surgery prior to the start of preseason workouts to repair a nagging injury to his left ankle. He is currently in the rehabilitation process.
The 6-foot-8, 245-pound Santa Fe, Texas, native averaged 10.4 points and seven rebounds per game last season and was named to the Big 12 Conference?s All-Underrated Team.
