Women's Golf Inks Third Fall Signee

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech University and head women's golf coach Stacey Totman announced the signing of Sheila Mendez of El Paso, Texas, Monday to a national letter of intent for the 2001-02 academic year.
"Sheila is a great addition to this team. She has a great work ethic and a drive to be successful," Totman said.
"Sheila has her best golf ahead of her. She is a great team player and her personality really fits in with this team. Sheila works hard both in the classroom and on the course. I look for her to do big things here at Tech."
Mendez is a senior at Franklin High School in El Paso. Some of her highlights include a 16th-place finish at the Texas State Tournament as a junior, qualifying for the Junior World tournament this past summer in San Diego, Calif., and representing West Texas on the America's Cup team matches in Colorado Springs, Colo. Mendez has also played in several events on the American Junior Golf Association tour.
