Red Raiders Compete at Texas A&M Multis

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field teams competed at their first meet of the outdoor season this past weekend when they competed at the Texas A&M Multi's in College Station. The men finished second out of 14 teams with 66 points. Texas A&M won the men's portion with a total team score of 124. The Tech women also finished second, scoring a total of 77.25 points. A&M's women also won the meet with a score of 100.25.
Highlights for the women included a victory in the 400-meter dash for Ngozi Iwu. Her time was 55.19. Evette Turner won the women's 800 with a time of 2:15.99. Kristen Koppes and Shannon Spaulding finished second and third in the 1,500 respectively with times of 4:43.00 and 4:44.71.
The men received a first place performance in the 4 x 100 relay. The winning time was 40.62 Carlos Francis won the men's 200 meter dash with a time of 21.30. Ty Williams took first place in the Shot Put with a distance of 56'01.25" and Ryan Cruz came in with a second place finish in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:22.36.
