Texas Tech women's tennis team started strong against Texas A&M, but could not finish, losing their third-consecutive match today. The Red Raiders fell 7-2 against the Aggies at the Athletic Training Center, dropping Tech's record to 3-15.
Tech won both positions No. 1 and 2 for their only points on the afternoon. In position No. 1, Amanda Earhart-Savell defeated Martina Nedorostova in two sets 6-4, 6-4. Also, in position No. 2 Ayako Suzuki beat Cassie Haas in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The Red Raiders were unable to use the momentum in their favor. Noel Ruiz forced Lisa Dingwall to three sets before coming up short, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. Tech was swept in doubles action.
"The effort that we put on the court today was the best I have seen all year," said first-year coach Virginia Brown. "We played well individually and as a team, but the Aggies are a tough team."
The Red Raiders get a short rest to regroup before they take on Oklahoma at 1:30 in Lubbock on April 19.
