LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech advances to Saturday's semifinal game against Baylor at 1 p.m. The Red Raiders improve to 9-6 in Big 12 Tournament play and 2-3 against Texas. Tech is playing on Saturday for the first time since 1998.
Texas is eliminated. The Longhorns are now 2-4 in Big 12 Tournament action.
Texas' Eric Tomlinson set career highs in innings pitched (3.1) and strikeouts (four).
With three hits, UT's Ben Emond recorded his 19th multiple-hit game of the season.
Longhorn pitcher Phil Seibel made his fist start since March 5, at Missouri.
Texas Tech is the only team to defeat Texas reliever Jeff Thames in 2000, Thames is now 4-2 with 17 saves.
Texas Tech has 20 comeback wins this season.
Tech's Miles Durham left the game in the second inning with muscle spasms in his left hamstring. He injured the leg on the sacrifice bunt in bottom of the first inning.
Through 10 games 85,559 people have attended the 2000 Big 12 Baseball Tournament. The pace is behind last years' when 97,773 people attended the first 10 games.
