LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior forward Cliff Owens (Santa Fe, Texas) scored 11 points to help lead the Big 12 All-Stars to a 95-57 win over B.C. of Vienna in Vienna, Austria, earlier today. The game was the first of six the team will play during the next week in Europe.
Owens, seeing his first competitive action since the 1998-99 season, missed his first shot of the game, but knocked down 5-of-7 the rest of way, including a three-point basket. He also grabbed three rebounds. Owens sat out the 1999-00 season while recovering from ankle surgery.
When asked about the differences in international play, Owens replied, "We made a few adjustments, but it wasn't that different. This game is universal."
Kansas' Luke Axtell led the All-Stars with 19 points, while Texas' Chris Owens added 16. Baylor's Terry Black also contributed 11 points.
The team plays again Saturday against Arcadia Traiskirchen B.C.
