Tech In Third At Alltel Husker Invitational

LUBBUCK, Texas - Texas Tech posted a two-round 618 on the first day of the Alltel Husker Invitational and is in third place with one round to play on Tuesday. The event is the first of the season for the Red Raiders and is being held at the Yankee Hill Country Club in Lincoln, Neb.
Sophomore Melanie Hunt (Phoenix, Ariz.) bounced back from a first-round 78 and shot a 73 in round two to lead the Red Raiders in a tie for fifth place. Sophomore Stephanie Dukes (North Richland Hills, Texas) and freshman Tamara Munsch (Hays, Kan.) are tied in 24th place after shooting a pair of 157s. Munsch made a top 10 showing in the first round with a 74, but dropped with an 83 in the second.
Junior Jennifer Newhouse (Bryan, Texas) shot rounds of 76 and 82 and is in 28th place, while freshman Jackie Ey (San Antonio, Texas) is in 36th place after posting rounds of 82 and 78.
Nebraska is the team leader followed by 2000 Big 12 Champion Oklahoma. Texas Tech, Missouri and Minnesota round out the top five. The Red Raiders are 17 shots off of the lead.
