Red Raiders Finish Second at Alltel

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech posted a tournament-low 296 in the final round to catapult above Oklahoma and finish second behind host Nebraska at the 17-team Alltel Husker Invitational at the Yankee Hill Country Club in Lincoln, Neb.
Sophomore Melanie Hunt (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Red Raiders with an 11th-place tie with Minnesota's Karyn Stordahl. Hunt shot a 228 in the three-round event. Junior Jennifer Newhouse (Bryan, Texas) shot 72 in the final round to move into the top 20 in a 16th-place tie, while sophomore Stephanie Dukes (North Richland Hills, Texas) cracked the top 20 in 19th place with a 75 today.
Freshmen Jackie Ey (San Antonio, Texas) and Tamara Munsch (Hays, Kan.) each shot 233 and tied in 22nd place. Ey shot a 73 in the final round after posting an 82 and 78 in the first two rounds.
Defending Big 12 Tournament Champion Oklahoma finished third behind the Red Raiders, while Missouri and Minnesota round out the top five.
