Take A Kid Promotion Set for Saturday

LUBBOCK, Texas - Among the capacity crowd at Jones SBC Stadium Saturday for the Texas Tech-Oklahoma football game will be approximately 2,000 kids and Texas Tech students participating in the 9th annual Take A Kid promotion.
About 1,200 kids from the city and area will be hosted by Tech students. Sponsored by Covenant Health Systems, the promotion gives kids a chance to have a college experience first-hand.
"It's a great promotion because the Tech students get a chance to be around kids, and the kids get a chance to see the Tech students as role models," said Committee for Champions member Alan Berger
Participating youth groups are from New Deal Middle School, Wheatley Elementary, Jackson Elementary, Harwell Elementary, Arnett Elementary, Iglesia Bautista Temple, Bethal Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church, Lyons Chapel Baptist Church, and Community Baptist Church.
The Take A Kid group will be seated in Section 116 at the stadium. The Texas Student Government also is assisting in the project.
