Women's Golf Announces First Signee Of Season

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Athletic Department and Coach Stacey Totman announced today the signing of Calais Gardner of Southlake, Texas to a National Letter of Intent.
"We are very excited about the addition of Calais to the women's golf program. She is a very talented player and will make a definite impact on the program. Calais has a tremendous amount of national experience that will help in the transition to college golf. She is a hard worker and very competitive and I believe she will be a major asset to the team," said Totman.
Gardner's accomplishments include the following: 1999 Future Collegiate All-American, 1999 World Junior Golf Cup Champion, 1999 Dallas Morning News Newcomer of the Year, 1999-2000 USGA Junior Qualifier, 2000 Dallas Morning News Player of the Year, 2001 AJGA Rolex Qualifier, 2001 Polo Championship Qualifier, 2000-2001 NE Tarrant County Player of the Year, 2001 Junior World Qualifier, 2001 Tourney Sports Kapalua National Invitational Champion, two-time high school district champion, three-time high school state qualifier.
Gardner is an active player on the AJGA as well. Along with her accomplishments on the course, Calais is also active in the Teen Leadership Group, FCA, and is a two-year member of her high school student council.
