67th-Ranked Men's Tennis Host Conference Opponents

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team will host a set of conference opponents this weekend. On Friday, March 23 36th- ranked Oklahoma State will march into town to compete at 1 p.m. at the Recreation Tennis Courts on the Texas Tech campus. Sunday, March 25 Tech will host Kansas at The Tennis Center off 66th and Indiana at 1 p.m.
The Red Raiders are coming off a win against Oklahoma, 6-1, last Friday in Lubbock. With the win Tech earned its first ranking of the year at 67th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings and improved its record to 4-8 on the year and 0-2 in Big 12 play.
Tech is being led by freshman Ben Gudzelak by posting an 8-2 overall record and 1-1 in Big 12 action. He is coming off his first conference win against Oklahoma's Matt Ogle, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
Oklahoma State enters the weekend ranked 36th in the nation dropping a slot in the ITA Rankings from two weeks ago. The Cowboys are 7-4 overall, 1-0 on a one-match losing streak after falling to Arkansas.
Kansas will compete against Baylor on Friday in Waco, Texas, and will travel to West Texas to battle the Red Raiders on Sunday. The Jayhawks enter Friday's match 9-7, 0-1 in league play and are on a three-match losing streak.
Following this weekend's match the Red Raiders will continue at home next Friday, March 30 when the squad host the University of Texas-San Antonio.
