Women's Tennis Drops Decision To 49th-Ranked Nebraska

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team dropped its second straight of the weekend today against 49th-ranked Nebraska in Lubbock at the Hillcrest Country Club. The Cornhuskers defeated the Red Raiders, 6-1.
In doubles action, Beverly Dawson and Irina Tereschenko continued to its success in the No. 1 position by defeating Katanna Balan and Rose Ketmayura, 8-1. The duo leads the Red Raider squad by posting a record of 11-2 overall and 5-2 in Big 12 action. They are currently on a three-match winning streak dating back to SMU on March 12, 2001. Tech fell in the No. 2 position, but recovered for the second time this weekend in the No. 3 position to win the doubles point. Kendall Brooks and Barbara Schraml beat Nebraska's Nadli Ijomah and Amy Frisch after coming back from being down 6-3 to win 8-6. The combo improves to 4-4 overall and 3-4 in league play.
Doubles action was the lone point of the day for the Red Raiders as the squad fell in straight sets throughout singles action. Sophomore Beverly Dawson went three-sets before falling to Ijomah, 6-2, 4-6, 6-0. She drops to 5-6 overall and 3-5 in the Big 12.
Today concluded home play for the women in the 2001 campaign as the squad went 3-4 at home this year. The Red Raiders will return to action next Saturday, March 31, in Stillwater, Okla. to battle the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
