Lubbock, Texas - The womens golf team is in 5th place after the first round at the San Antonio Shootout. The team shot a 309 on the 5,925-yard par 72 course.
Tech is ahead of Big 12 opponent Baylor and one stroke behind Big 12 opponent Kansas State. The 11-team field includes four Big 12 schools and five Big 10 schools. Tech enters into this tournament competing against six ranked teams.
Jennifer Newhouse leads the Raiders, tying for 13th, with a score of 76 shooting a 39 on the front nine and improving to 37 on the back nine. Teammates Stephanie Dukes (37,40) and Priscilla Hunt (38,39) are tied for 16th place with a score of 77. Jackie Ey shot a 39, 40 tying her for 26th place. Allison Louth, tying for 44th, shot an 82 with 41 on the front and back nine.
Play will conclude for the Raiders at the Pecan Valley Golf course tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.
