LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team looks to regroup on Friday when UT-San Antonio comes to town. The squads will swing into action at 2 p.m. on the Texas Tech Rec Courts. The Red Raiders are currently on a two-match losing streak dropping its record to 5-10 overall and 1-3 in the Big 12.
Tech is coming off straight losses last weekend against conference opponents. The 36th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys downed Tech 5-2, while Kansas defeated Tech 7-0.
"UTSA will be a good break from conference for us," said head coach Tim Siegel. "However, our team must come to play because the Roadrunners are a very good team. We have been plagued by injuries, but the attitude of the team has stayed positive."
Richard Crabtree and Ben Gudzelak have appeared to found their niche in doubles by winning four-straight. The duo is posting a 5-6 overall record and 3-1 in league play. Last weekend the combo defeated 26th-ranked Matt Prentice and Eru Lyndon of OSU, 8-4.
Tech enters the match leading the all-time series record, 6-1. This season the squad is posting a 3-3 record at home and is 2-0 in non-conference play in Lubbock.
Lone senior Borut Martincevic and the rest of the men's tennis team will host New Mexico State for the final home match of the season on Sunday, April 1.
