Knight Signs Four in First Signing Class

LUBBOCK, Texas - Bob Knight signed four from the junior college ranks to comprise his first signing class as head coach of the Red Raider program.
Ermal Kuqo (Tirana, Albania / Seminole State College), Pawal Storozynski (Poland / Dodge City CC), Will Chavis (Philadelphia, Pa. / Panola JC) and Kasib Powell (Teaneck, N.J. / Bulter County CC) each signed national letters of intent with Texas Tech.
*Kuqo (6-10, 275) averaged 13 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists last season for Seminole State College and shot 58 percent from the field. Kuqo is a four-star recruit, according to JucoJunction.com, and is the 41st ranked prospect in the nation. He also has been listed by some services as the top center prospect in the country. Kuqo spent his freshman season at Fort Scott Community College, where he earned All-Jayhawk Conference honors.
*Dodge City's Storozynski (6-8, 215) averaged 16 points and nine rebounds last season and helped DCJC advance to the NJCAA national tournament.
*Chavis (5-10, 175) averaged 25 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and four steals per game for Panola last season. Prior to enrolling at PJC, Chavis spent the 1999-00 season at the University of New Hampshire, where he averaged 9.6 points per game and earned a spot on the America East Conference All-Rookie Team. Additionally, he brings to Tech a 3.9 grade point average in pre-med studies.
*Powell (6-7, 200) averaged 18 points and seven rebounds per game for Butler last season and was named honorable mention NJCAA All-America.
