Womens Golf Heads To Big 12 Tourney

LUBBOCK, TEXAS - Texas Tech women's golf will travel to Harvester, Iowa, to compete in the fifth annual Big 12 Tournament April 23-25. Play will begin 9 a.m. Monday on the par-72, 6,125 yard Harvester Golf Course and will conclude Wednesday morning with play beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Tech's roster includes Stephanie Dukes who is coming off a win at the Susie Maxwell Classic at Norman, Oklahoma with her lowest career round of 208. Priscilla Hunt will also make her third Big 12 Championships appearance with her best finish of tying for fourth coming in 2000. Junior Jennifer Newhouse will also compete for Tech, with her best finish of tying for eighth coming from the Roadrunner Invitational. Freshmen Tamara Munsch and Jackie Ey round out the Raider roster making their first Big 12 championship appearance.
Every Big 12 women's golf team is ranked in the April 18 GolfWeek national rankings and nine teams are ranked in the MasterCard rankings. Tech is ranked 42nd in GolfWeek and 39th in MasterCard rankings. The competition should be fierce as there have been four different champions in the four-year history of the league. Oklahoma is the defending champion with a 916 stroke win.
