Track's Schoppe Named Academic All-District Honors

LUBBOCK, Texas - Senior track and field athlete Andrew Schoppe was named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District VI team Tuesday, earning second team honors, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Schoppe, a senior from Houston, Texas, holds a 3.979 grade-point-average in Business Management/Radio, Television and Broadcasting. He competed in last week's Big 12 Championships in College Station, Texas, posting a mark season-best mark of 144-9 in the javelin.
The Tech track squad is preparing for the NCAA Championships, May 30-June 2, hosted by the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore.
