Lubbock, Texas - Jennifer Newhouse of the Texas Tech women's golf team was named academic all-scholar by the National Golf Coaches Association. Newhouse is from Bryan, Texas, and is majoring in business. A previous honor came in April when she was named to the 2001 Academic All-Big 12 first team.
A student-athlete must have a 3.4 grade point average and have competed in 66 percent of the team's tournaments to be eligible for this academic honor. The all-American committee of the NCGA selects the scholars.
Newhouse competed in 11 tournaments in the 2000-2001 season, placing in the top 20 four times. Her best finish came at the Roadrunner Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M., tying for eighth. Newhouse finished second on the team in stroke average with a 77.8.
