To say the least, this has been a great week for Texas Tech volleyball. On Wednesday, we traveled to Colorado. I found out quick enough in our Serve and Pass, prior to the game, that I would have a tough time dealing with the altitude change. It didn't much affect our playing though, as we beat them in 3 with our stellar hitting and defense. We trailed a few times, but keeping with an aggressive style of play, we came out with a big win. I'm not sure which was better though, the game or the food and dessert after the game!
I have to admit that I was a little nervous playing A&M on Saturday. Each of us knew that this was a must-win situation. I guess for that reason and the fact that it is easy to get pumped up against the Aggies, we threw everything into high gear in order to win this big match in 4. Other than the State Tournament, I don't think I've ever felt so great.
There are a lot of reasons why I play volleyball. The biggest reason would have to be the feeling you get after you've had a week like we did against A&M and Colorado. Right now, I hope we take this momentum to carry us through our games with Iowa State and Missouri this week. I'm not sure how bad I want it for myself or for my teammates, but I do know there is nothing more that I would want for our seniors. Melissa, Stacey, and Ann have all been great leaders and role models. They've each helped me both on and off the court, and I will never be able to repay them.
I know most of you won't be able to make it to Missouri on Saturday, but I hope to see everyone on Wednesday for our game with Iowa State. Don't forget to stick around for the Lady Raider basketball game as well!!!
