Kansas State Head Coach Mike Clark
Overall
The first thing that I want to do is to congratulate Texas Tech. We've had so many battles with them this season. I don't know how they figure out regional sites, but I think that they deserve to host. They are a great team and we have had some real knockdown dragout battles with them.
I'm proud of the way that our guys played. They never game up, and they stayed positive and focused. They wanted to build our way back into it. Chad Duckers came in and gave us a chance to get back into it, then Tim (Doty) hit the home run and Brandon had some big hits and then Mitch came in and threw the ball real well. That's the way that we have played the last half of the season, we've attacked. It's been a pleasure to be along for the ride.
On the 8th inning-ending double play
It was a big-time play, no question about it. Our defense has gotten it done all year for us. Our goal at the beginning of the season has been to get to .900 as a fielding team, and then .910 and .920.
Kansas State Pitcher Chad Duckers
On coming back from a 5-0 defecit in the first
All year we have been a team that's gotten down after the first few innings and we have been able to come back. We still had nine innings left to go, so we felt good. I was confident about our odds and figured that we would get chances to get back into it.
Head Coach Larry Hays
On the game-
"They tried to give it to us and we said no thanks. Every time we'd do something well we'd come back with a negative. We didn't pitch or catch very well. We made a few plays, but not enough.
On the NCAA Regionals-
"Everything we worked for, we now get to do. We know how to come back from this situation. A couple of things have happened here that will really help us. I like our attitude. We'll come ready to play. If we pitch well, we'll do some damage."
#7 Jake Brown, 3b
On the NCAA Regionals-
"Throughout the season coach told us to play like it's your last game and we've come to that situation."
On his 6-11 hits-
"You have good and bad days. You take the same approach every day. Luckily this was my week to get hot."
#35 Dusty Buck, P
On the game-
"Early I struggled to find a groove. I had trouble finding the strike zone. Eventually, I settled down and found my groove, but I slipped back into it."
