LUBBOCK, Texas - Former Red Raider golfer and recent graduate Jennifer Newhouse (Bryan, Texas) has been named a National Golf Coaches Association All-Scholar for the third-straight season. Newhouse joins former Red Raider Jamie Vannoy as the only Tech golfers to be named an all-scholar for three seasons.
The NGCA Division I, II and III All-Scholar teams recognized 232 golfers this year. The criteria for the selection include a minimum GPA of 3.50 (3.40 for juniors and seniors) and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66% of the school's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Newhouse, who graduated with a 3.94 in marketing, finished her career ranked sixth all-time at Tech with a 78.3 stroke average and her three-round total of 218 at the 2001 Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque ranks fourth. She logged four top 10 career finishes and 15 top 20, including a sixth-place tie at the McGuire Invitational last fall.
During her four seasons, Newhouse helped lead the Red Raiders to three NCAA regional appearances.
