Men's Golf Finishes In Ninth at Duke Golf Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas - In its fourth tournament of the season, the men's golf team finished in ninth place with a score of 898 (298, 300, 300) today at the Duke Golf Classic in Durham, N.C. The finish was Tech's lowest of the season with its best showing coming at the Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic, a fourth place finish and a score of 846.
Sophomore Erik Stenman was Tech's top finisher, tying for 25th place with a score of 223 (74, 73, 76). Junior Chris Pace improved from a first day place of 48th to finish in a 35th place tie with a score of 226 (76, 77, 73).
Freshman Oscar Floren tied for 39th after shooting 227 (72, 80, 75). Tying for 45th, sophomore Andrew Dresser shot 79, 73, 76 to finish at 228, one stroke behind Floren. Sophomore William Haddrell shot 231 (76, 77, 78) to finish in a tie for 55th place.
No.12 North Carolina claimed first place title with a score of 868. No.24 Illinois, No.48 Duke, No.32 Tulsa and No.11 Kansas State round out the top five finishes. No.46 Toledo, No.37 Michigan State, North Carolina-Wilmington, No.39 Texas Tech and Virginia Tech complete the top ten while Furman, Old Dominion, Florida Southern, Coastal Carolina and Virginia Commonwealth complete the field. North Carolina's Dustin Bray took home the individual title with a score of 207 (71, 65, 71).
Tech finalizes fall play next Friday as they head to Palo Alto, Calif., for The Nelson.
