LUBBOCK, Texas - The NCAA Women's Golf Committee announced today that Texas Tech has been selected to host the 2005 NCAA Central Regional May 5-7 at The Rawls Course on the Texas Tech campus.
"This is really an exciting time and tremendous opportunity for the women's golf team and The Rawls Course," Lady Raider golf coach Stacey Totman said. "This is the reason this course was built. It serves as a great ambassador for the university and is one the Texas Tech, Lubbock and West Texas communities can be proud of."
Following the regional, Oregon State University will host the NCAA Championships at Sunriver Golf Resort in Sunriver, Ore., May 17-20, 2005.
The No. 31 Lady Raiders have faced highly ranked opponents this season in every tournament including nine teams in the top 25 at the Stanford Intercollegiate. The team has had two top performances, including a season best fourth-place finish at the Roadrunner Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M., finishing ahead of No. 23 Florida State.
Tech will close out the fall season with an appearance at the College of Charleston Invitational in Kiwah Island, S.C., Nov. 3-4.
