
Oklahoma Outlasts Texas Tech, 3-2

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Oklahoma Sooners were not going to be swept this season by the Red Raiders as they fought five games to a 3-2 (30-19, 26-30, 28-30, 30-25, 13-15) win in Norman, Okla. Tech beat Oklahoma earlier in the season 3-0 but tonight the Sooners snapped an 11-match losing streak against the Raiders.
Junior Kelly Johnson led the team with a match-high 24 kills along with three service aces and 17 digs. Junior Laura Grote, with 46 assists also contributed 14 digs and four assisted blocks. Sophomore Breanna Pursley had 12 kills on the night with a team-high 17 digs while Senior Angela Mooney had a match high eight assisted blocks.
Tech out hit the Sooners .219 to .151 and also out blocked them but could not get the match win. Tech had nine service aces on the night, tying a season high. Pursley and Johnson both contributed three while Mooney, Kiley Lyons and Daneen Grisham had one ace each.
Tech (10-13, 3-12) will return home to host the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday at the United Spirit Arena.
