Tech Golf Wraps-Up Stanford Intercollegiate in 15th

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team finished up three-rounds of play at the Stanford/Pepsi Invitational with a 15th-place finish in Stanford, Calif. Shooting a 74 third-round, 223 tournament total, senior Megan Hull finished as Tech's top competitor at the Stanford Golf Course.
Hull (73-76-74) ended the day in a tie for 35th, moving up six spots from the previous day's ranking. Firing a pair of 75 rounds were senior Kim Kolb and freshman Valerie Tan. Kolb (73-77-75-225) stands as Tech's second-highest individual finisher with a tie for 45th, while Tan (76-82-75-233) ended the event in a tie for 69th. Sheila Mendez (71-83-77-231), senior, completed the three-day competition with a tied for 65th performance. Rounding out the Lady Raider effort in 87th is sophomore Marla Troester (83-82-77-242).
No.9 Arizona State took home the tournament title after leading the field after everyday of competition. Arizona State took the title with a 904 total, followed by No.16 Pepperdine (857) and No.2 Washington (861) in second and third. No.6 UCLA (862-fourth), No. 20 Stanford (869-fifth), No.39 Washington State (870-sixth), No.10 New Mexico (881-seventh), No.24 Tulsa (884-eighth), Arizona (887-ninth) Texas (891-10th) round out the top ten.
Individual tournament honors went to Washington State's Anastasia Kostina with a tournament-best performance. Kostina shot a pair of 68s in the first two rounds, followed by a 69 third round to complete her three-day score of 205.
The Lady Raiders will return to action at the Las Vegas Founders Invitational Nov. 1-3 in Henderson, Nev. The Las Vegas tournament will wrap up the fall season for the Lady Raiders until they begin the spring season Feb.21-22 at the Central Regional Preview.
