Postgame Quotes
Head Coach Mike Leach
On the game: "I think to an extent that we let one get away. I felt like our chances were good from the beginning. I'm really proud of how tough we played because we have tough people and we play for four quarters. I thought we played every snap hard. Now, we just need to do it with an ere of confidence and that's the biggest key for us."
About Texas Tech's confidence: "I think there could be more. All teams battle that and that's always something you have to improve on. We're a team emerging that way because we played really hard. I think that the extra element is the expectation that you're going to make something happen."
On Oklahoma's defense: "There weren't any surprises. (Oklahoma) blitzed more than they usually do, but they were the same blitz packages."
On the Red Raiders' strategy: "We just tried to keep (Jason White) off-balance. The run game was a major concern. They're good at it. We did some good things at times but gave up some big plays. I thought about it a lot. We moved the ball all day, but with (OU), your margin of error is narrow. The key was to stop them quickly so they couldn't use the clock. Then we needed to score quickly. We tried hard, but we didn't get those things done."
On Adrian Peterson: "Good player. He's a very skilled guy. And not just in this game. He's proved in the last three games that he's very good."
Quarterback Sonnie Cumbie
On the pass deflections: "Those guys [OU defensive line] are all around six-foot, six and have really long arms. I need to adjust and find lanes to thrown in."
On the OU defense: "They're a good team. There scheme is very basic, they just execute very well."
Linebacker Mike Smith
On Adrian Peterson: "He's a good runner. He had a pretty good day. We gave him the opportunity to make big plays and he took advantage."
On the Texas Tech defense: "We definitely did better than last year. Not having Brock (Stratton) or Adell (Duckett) hurt, but you don't want to make an injury worse."
On the future: "We're looking forward to next week against Nebraska. Our defense played really well, we just need to get better every week."
