
Lady Raiders Set to Compete at Las Vegas Founders

LUBBOCK, Texas-- - The Texas Tech women's golf team will travel to Henderson, Nev., this coming week to compete in the three-day and 54-hole Las Vegas Founders invitational. Tech is coming off a 15ht-place finish at the Stanford/Pepsi Intercollegiate, and will look to end the Fall season with a solid performance against some of the nation's top programs.
Senior Kim Kolb with a 75.64 season stroke-average leads Tech thus far in the season. Kolb is coming off her first career individual title with a first-place finish at the NMSU/Price's Give `Em Five Intercollegiate. Freshman Valerie Tan closely follows the senior with a 75.73 season stroke-average while two out of four tournaments she has participated in finishing in the top 5.
The 16-team field consists of two Big 12 teams and four teams ranked in the top 25 in the nation. Leading the field is No.3 Washington, No.10 Missouri, No.18 Stanford and No.25 USC. Rounding out the field is No. 28 UC-Berkeley, UC-Irvine, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Kent State, New Mexico State, San Diego State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and UNLV.
The 54-hole event is set for tee time starts on Mon., Nov.1, and Tues., Nov.2, at 9:00 a.m. The event, which is taking place at the Anthem Country Club (Par 72, 6,194 yards) in Henderson, Nev., will begin with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start on the final and third round.
