Hull Ends The Day in a Tie For First

LUBBOCK, Texas - Megan Hull fired a one-under-par first round to lead the individual leader board at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in Henderson, Nev., in a tie for first. The Texas Tech women's golf stands in third overall with an 11-over-par, 299 first round score.
Closely following the senior on the board is Valerie Tan who opened the first round with a strong one-over-par effort. The freshman posted a tie for fourth-place finish to complete her solid first day performance. Seniors Shelia Mendez and Kim Kolb finished the first round carding a five-over- and a six-over-par, respectively. Mendez tied for 28th while Kolb finished tied for 33rd. Marla Troester, sophomore, turned in a first day 10-over-par to finish the round with a tie for 66th place to wrap up the last of Tech's competitors.
Leading the 16-team field is No.3 Washington in first with a first-round 294. Rounding out the top five are UNLV (296-second), Tech (299-third), No.18 Stanford (301-fourth) and No.25 USC (303) in fifth.
The women's golf team will continue competition at the Las Vegas Showdown tomorrow with tee times beginning at 10 a.m. For up-to-date scores, the tournament will be covered live on Golfstat.com.
