Women's Golf Signs One to 2005-06 Squad

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's golf coach Stacey Totman announced today the signing of Melissa Fahey of League City, Texas, to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Lady Raider golf team next season.
The League City native comes to Tech will a complete resume that shows her excellence on not only the greens, but in the classroom.
Fahey's athletic accomplishments include being named first team All-District for three years, was the Texas State High School qualifier, and finished 5th at the AJGA Lubbock Juniors at The Rawls Course. Fahey qualified for the PGA Westfield Junior PGA Championships, won several high school events while competing for Clear Creek High School, and competed in the First Tee Open on the Senior PGA Tour with Bruce Fleisher.
Academically Melissa was the Clear Creek representative for Girls State, was the Clear Creek female athlete chosen for the Wendy's HS Heisman Award and was a member of both the Spanish Honor Society and Key Club. Fahey also participated in the B.E.S.T.T. Program while being a nominee for the AJGA HP Scholastic Award.
Totman knows that this standout student-athlete will make a nice addition to the foundation she has built for the women's golf program here at Tech.
"I am thrilled with the addition of Melissa to the program," said Totman. "She is not only a great athlete but is an outstanding person. She works hard both on the course and in the classroom. She has high morals and exemplifies the type of student athlete that we want at Texas Tech. She is going to accomplish many great things here a Tech and I am excited about having the opportunity to work with her. I look for her to make an immediate impact next year."
Melissa is the daughter of Scott and Jane Fahey and has one sister, Lynn Fahey. While at Tech, Fahey plans on majoring in Education.
