LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's golf coach Greg Sands announced today the signing of Brandon Lakatta of Mansfield, Texas, to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Red Raider golf team next season.
The Mansfield native is currently a senior at Mansfield High School where he was named MVP.
Lakatta's accomplishments include averaging a 73.5 stroke-average in AJGA Events, while finishing second in the AJGA Abilene Tournament. Lakatta also turned in a pair of fourth-place finishes at both the Byron Nelson Junior Invitational (2004) and the Texas State Junior Championships (2004).
While at Mansfield the senior thus far has been named All-District three years running. Lakatta was the District Runner-Up Medalist in 2004 and has served as team captain the past two years.
Head Coach Greg Sands is looking forward to the great career Lakatta can have here at Tech.
"Brandon is a hardworking student on and off the court who can become a great player during his time here at Tech," said Sands. "His leadership skills will be a great addition to this team and will be vital to keeping this program strong for the next four years."
