
Women's Golf Welcomes Third Signee To 2004-05 Squad

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's golf coach Stacey Totman announced today the signing of Gloriana Soto of San Jose, Costa Rica, to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Lady Raider golf team next season.
The Costa Rica native comes to Tech with a resume that includes not only competition from within the states, but a background in international play.
Soto's accomplishments include being named the 2003 Costa Rica National Champion, 2004 Costa Rica National Team member, while being named the 2003 and 2004 Junior Central American Champion. Soto has posted four-straight top three finishes on the Junior Champions Tour, with her highest of tied for second coming at the Desert Horizon Classic at Indian Wells.
Soto is currently playing for the IMG/David Leaderbetter Academy, a constant producer of some of the best players in the country every year.
Totman knows that this standout student-athlete will make a nice addition to the foundation she has built for the women's golf program, all while adding some need depth.
" Gloriana is a wonderful young lady and she will add a great deal of depth to a very strong line-up," said Totman. "Gloriana has mainly competed internationally and has been playing in the US for a short amount of time, but has already proven that she can play with the best players in the country. She is coming to us from a very strong junior program at the IMG/David Leaderbetter Academy, which produces some of the best players in the country every year. Gloriana works very hard and is very competitive which is an attribute that will take her a long way in collegiate golf. We are very excited about her future at Texas Tech."
