LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior first baseman Josh Brady was named the Big 12 Player of the Week today while the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) also tabbed him as the National Player of the Week.
Brady, a native of Lindou, Utah and a transfer from the Community College of Southern Nevada, helped pace the Red Raiders to a three-game sweep of the Campbell Camels this past weekend at Dan Law Field. He finished the three-game series with a batting average of .571 as he was 8-for-14 at the plate with two doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI. In the second game of the three-game series, he was a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs scored, six RBI and two home runs.
Brady joined Texas' Huston Street as the two players honored by the Big 12 while Jered Weaver of Long Beach State was named the NCBWA's National Pitcher of the Week. He is the first Red Raider to earned national player of the week honors since Jon Weber picked up the honor on Feb. 1, 1999.
