TEXAS TECH
Head Coach Bob Knight
Opening Statement:
"We couldn't have had anybody in my life time give our team a better pre game talk than Bill Parcels, so I really appreciate that and I think I had a little extra advantage today. The game, we were a little bit disappointed because we had a lead and we have a tendency to loose a lead far too often. I'm not really good at turning negatives into positives. I did go in and say we have a 20-minute game starting at zero. I thought we played not poorly in the first half, but pretty well in the second half. I thought we handled things pretty well at both ends of the court. I thought Colorado is a pretty good basketball team and we didn't have a chance to beat them up there. Here we were in pretty good shape during the last few minutes. Obviously one of the things that stands out to us during the game was Mike Marshall's game. He got some really good baskets around the bucket and the hit some three's which helped us. He really played well."
On guard play:
"I think that when we played up in Colorado, Harrison (David) really hurt us. I think his footwork has really improved so much that if he gets you in a particular position, he's got you dead either receiving the ball or tuning on the back board. We thought the less he handled the ball, the better it would be for us. I think a key for us in the second half was our offense. We got to the free throw line and made some free throws, it was just a really good second half for us."
Senior Guard Andre Emmett
On the game today:
"It's always a great feeling to win regardless of what my stats look like. Fortunately Mikey (Marshall) and Ronald stepped up and we ended up with the win and are going to the next round."
On being back in Dallas to play in the tournament:
"I guess Dallas is like a back yard to us because a lot of alumni stay here in Dallas and they come out and show their support, and that gives it a little edge, too."
Senior Guard Mikey Marshall
On being a roll player:
"I pretty much am a roll player, Andre (Emmett) is our go to guy and we just need other people to step up on any given night. Not too many teams are going to expect as much as I did tonight and you just have to go out there and have it in your mind set to accomplish that goal"
On his shooting tonight and three-point play:
"I've just been keeping my shot a little secret, (laughs) no, it's all about having confidence. I think the A&M game at A&M really helped me. Robert wasn't there, and we just had other people stepping up and it's been working good ever since."
COLORADO
Head Coach Ricardo Patton
On three point shooting:
"We played unselfish basketball. When we were a little more patient offensively, we got some good looks. We also did when we skipped the ball, but we just didn't do it quite enough. The times when we got the ball inside to David [Harrison] were also times when we swang the ball from side to side."
On getting the ball to Harrison:
"I think there were times when we could have been a little more patient, but the majority of the time I think what has to happen for David [Harrison] not to be doubled and sometimes tripled teamed is our guards have to step up and make plays. At one point we have two of our starters out there not being guarded."
Senior Guard Michel Morandais
On today's game:
"It was a hard loss. They outplayed us and were just tougher today. They hustled and got the boards, they just outplayed us."
On his offensive performance vs. Texas Tech:
"It was a combination of good defense and an off night for me. (Ronald) Ross did a good job on me. He was there every time I caught the ball. I had a good game against them at home, but he did a great job guarding me today."
