Lubbock, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team lost to Baylor, 6-1, this afternoon in Waco, Texas, at the Baylor Tennis Center. Tech managed a victory in singles action, but was shut out in doubles play. The Red Raiders drop to an overall record of 9-7 and 0-1 in Big 12 Conference play.
In doubles play, the Baylor Bears captured an early lead against the Red Raiders by winning all three doubles matches and earning the doubles point.
In singles play, the Bears continued to dominate by achieving wins in five of six matches. Tech junior Michael Innerebner earned Tech's only point by defeating Reiner Neurohr 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 4 spot.
Texas Tech Coach Tim Siegel believes this was a great match and is anxious for the next competition.
"It was probably one of the best matches of this year. I thought the whole team did a great job. Jakob and Dimitrio had really close matches, and it could have gone either way," Siegel said. "I'm ready to get our No. 5 guy back (Dinko Halachev), so that we can get ready for Texas."
The Red Raiders will host the University of Texas at the McLeod Tennis Center on April 2 at 6.p.m.
