LUBBOCK, Texas - Julie Hauck threw her fifth complete game of the season, but it was not enough to lift Texas Tech to a victory as they fell to New Mexico 3-0, in game six of the Mutual of Omaha Lady Raider Softball Classic at Rocky Johnson Field on Saturday.
New Mexico (15-8) got on the board in the third inning, after Kim Korsak reached on an error and scored on a double by Ryanne Hodgins. Hodges would score a batter later on a double by Cassie Chavez to give the Lobos a 2-0 lead.
Tech designated player Elyssa Sigala singled in the bottom of the first inning to extend her career high hitting streak to nine games.
Tech (9-16) would threaten in the bottom of the fourth inning with one out Sigala walked and advanced to second on a ground out. A Natalie Enderlin single would put runners on second and third with two outs, but the Lady Raiders could not convert as freshman Brandy Moulin struck out swinging.
Tech starter Julie Hauck (1-5) threw her team high fifth complete game of the season, and yielded only one earned run in the process.
The Mutual of Omaha Lady Raider Softball Classic will conclude tomorrow when Texas Tech will take on Columbia at 10 a.m. and New Mexico at 12 p.m.
