LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders will take a midweek break from Big 12 action and wrap up a nine game homestand as they play host to the New Mexico Lobos on Tuesday evening at Dan Law Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Tuesday's game will feature two red-hot teams as New Mexico comes to Lubbock having won 10 of its last 12 Mountain West league games and now lead that conference with a 13-5 record. The Lobos are 17-20-1 overall.
Texas Tech also enters the game on a hot streak as the Red Raiders have now won 10 of their last 12 games and currently rank fourth in the Big 12 Conference standings. Texas Tech (27-13) picked up a crucial Big 12 series win over the weekend against No. 13 Oklahoma. Texas Tech dropped the Sooners from their status atop the Big 12 standings with a 14-4 win on Saturday and a 6-5 win on Sunday.
The Red Raiders and Lobos have played just one time this season and New Mexico came out victorious 4-1 back on March 16 in Albuquerque. The two teams were scheduled to play again last Tuesday in New Mexico but the Lobos were forced to cancel the game due to scheduling conflicts. Texas Tech leads the all-time series with the Lobos 44-30-1.
