Red Raiders Host New Mexico State On Tuesday

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders will play host to the New Mexico State Aggies in what will be the final non-conference game of the season as the two teams are set for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch on Tuesday night at Dan Law Field.
Texas Tech enters the game against New Mexico State with an overall record of 34-17 and is fresh off a series win over No. 22 Oklahoma State. Texas Tech rebounded from a 14-2 loss on Friday night with a 6-2 win on Saturday and then tallied one of the biggest comebacks in school history as Tech scored nine runs in the top of the ninth to win the Sunday game 11-8.
New Mexico State enters the contest against Tech with a record of 32-21-1 after getting swept this past weekend by Sun Belt Conference leader South Alabama. The Aggies are led by head coach Rocky Ward who is 156-175-1 in six seasons.
The game will feature two of the nations top home run hitting clubs as the Aggies and Red Raiders have a combined 177 homers on the year as New Mexico State has 105 while Tech totals 72 after a four home run day on Sunday. Tuesday's game will feature two first basemen vying for All-America honors in New Mexico State's Billy Becher and Tech's Josh Brady. Becher, a first-team All-America selection in 2003, enters the game batting .350 on the year and leads the country with 24 home runs and 88 RBI. Brady comes into the contest hitting .357 with 16 home runs and 75 RBI.
Tuesday's game will mark the first time that these two teams have met since the 2000 season when Tech won a three-game series 2-1 including a 16-4 win in the series finale.
