LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior shortstop Cameron Blair has been selected as the Big 12 Player of the Week by a panel of media covering Big 12 baseball for his outstanding performances against New Mexico and Kansas.
Blair, a native of Dallas and transfer from Grayson County Community College, became the fourth different position player to win the weekly honor from the Big 12 as he joined fellow teammates Josh Brady (Feb. 10 and April 13), Michael Mask (March 9) and Madison Edwards (March 23). In four games this past week against New Mexico and Kansas, Blair hit .526 with three doubles, three home runs (including one grand slam) and tallied 12 RBI. He became Tech's all-time grand slam leader as he picked up his third of the year against New Mexico and also tied a Big 12 record set previously by Jose Montenegro of Oklahoma back in 1998.
Garrett Broshuis of Missouri and Zach Jackson of Texas A&M were selected as co-Big 12 Pitcher of the Week.
