Coach Bob Knight's Statement:
"During the past two weeks, I have called no one nor initiated any inquires about the basketball coaching position at Ohio State. However, several people in Columbus and in Ohio have called to ask if I would be willing to take the job. I told each of them that I would have to meet with the Ohio State people and discuss the situation to determine my interest, if any. Last night, a friend of mine from Columbus called me to say that the athletic director had decided not to discuss the vacancy with me. Therefore, there was no need for me to consider it.
I greatly appreciate the concern and support shown to me by friends, fans, and alumni of Ohio State.
As I believe everyone knows, I have really enjoyed being a part of the basketball program at Texas Tech and am looking forward to keeping it moving in the direction we have it going."
