Head Coach Stacey Totman led the Lady Raiders to an outstanding finish. Tech placed ahead of five top-ranked teams, most notably No.16 Iowa State, No.26 Baylor and No.35 Kansas State.

LUBBOCK, Texas- - The Texas Tech women's golf team wrapped up a rain-filled weekend of golf at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational in Lubbock, Texas with a sixth-place finish. The originally planned three-round 54-hole event was cut short due to rain, forcing the event to be cut to 36 holes and two rounds of play. The No. 30 Notre Dame Fighting Irish stunned the top ranked field shooting 296-297-593 to take the tournament title over No.15 Oklahoma (second-597) and No.1 Missouri and SMU (598) who tied for third.

The Lady Raiders shot a first-day 306 to take a ninth-place tie after day one of competition. Tech would rebound at their home course in the final-round, shooting a 303, to finish 33-over-par 609 for the tournament.

Turning in the best performance for the Red and Black was freshman Valerie Tan who shot 75-73-148 to finish tied for a sixth-place for the event. Tan, a native of Sarasota, Fla., has stepped in immediately for Tech to make this her second-straight tournament to be Tech's top golfer shooting four-over-par, and her first top-10 finish of her Tech career. Senior Sheila Mendez returned to form this weekend after having a tough fall opener two weeks ago. Mendez, who led the Lady Raiders last year with the lowest individual stroke-average, regained her shot this weekend carding a 75-77-152, eight-over. The El Paso, Texas, native was able to help Tech move up in the rankings with key birdies in the latter half of the 18-hole course, finishing in a 21st-place tie for the weekend.

Senior Megan Hull wrapped-up a solid weekend at The Rawls Course shooting a pair of 77 rounds, 154 two-day performance. Hull, a Mansfield, Texas, native, remained consistent throughout the weekend to lead the Lady Raiders in one of their best turnouts at their home course with a 36th-place finish. Kim Kolb, senior, with a day one 79, rebounded to turn in one of Tech's lowest individual second-round scores of a 76, 155 overall. Kolb, a Sioux Falls, S.D. native, finished in a 47th-place tie, 11-over-par. Rounding out the last of the point-scoring Lady Raiders was junior Ashley Slavich shooting a 81-77-158. The San Antonio, Texas, native finished tied for 63rd-place, 14-over-par.

Tech competed four individuals over the weekend, with junior Hazel Tan leading the way with a 63rd-place tie. Tan shot a 81-77-158, while freshman Deirdre Hatfield (tied for 69th, 77-83-160) and sophomore Leslie Wall (tied for 96th, 90-79-169) round out the competing individual field. Sophomore Marla Troester withdrew from the event after one-round of competition.

Arkansas' Stacy Lewis turned in the individual tournament low-round with her first-round 68, followed by Notre Dame's Katie Brophy with a first-round 69. The SMU Mustangs posted the tournaments lowest team score of 291, with the second-lowest, 295, carded by Missouri.

Notre Dame's Brophy (69-72-141) took home the individual title, with Oklahoma's Amparo Gala (71-72-143) taking runners-up honors. The Rawls Course played much tougher in the second and final round, with no individual sinking any score lower than par.

The overall team leaderboard was topped by No.30 Notre Dame (593), who came back from a third-place day-one finish to overtake No.15 Oklahoma and No.1 Missouri. The Fighting Irish claimed the title behind a team second-round low 297. Rounding out the top five are No. 15 Oklahoma (298-299-597), SMU(tied for third,291-307-598), Oklahoma (tied for third, 295-303-598) and No.19 Arkansas (301-301-602) in fifth.
