Lady Raider Tennis Ends Day One in Midland

Lubbock, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team completed day one of competition at the Midland Racquet Club, in Midland, Texas, today.
In the opening round of play, Samantha van der Drift fell to Svetlana Kouzmenko of SMU 6-1, 6-3. Cigdem Duru was topped by Hadley McFarlane of Boise State, 6-4, 4-6, (10-7).
In the consolation round, van der Drift edged Halley Rambally of SMU, 6-4, 6-0 as Duru topped Monica Neveklovska, also of SMU, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles play, van der Drift and Duru topped Klara Jagosova and Monika Peciulionyte of UT-Arlington, 8-4.
Play will continue on Sat., Oct. 16.
