Martinez Signs with Lady Raider Golf

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's golf coach Stacey Totman announced on Monday that Amanda Martinez has signed a letter of intent to join the Lady Raider golf team for the 2006-07 season.
Martinez will come to Tech after a standout career at Southside High School in San Antonio, Texas, where she was an honor roll student as well as class president during her junior and senior years. On the golf course, Martinez was also outstanding, earning State 4A Champion honors in 2003-04 and was the state's bronze medalist in 2004-05. In addition to many other honors in high school, Martinez was named San Antonio Express-News Co-Player of the Year twice, garnering the accolade in both 2004-05 and 2003-04, and was selected as the Southern Texas PGA Player of the Year - Southern Section in 2002.
Individually, Martinez was able to post several impressive tournaments during her prep career, including several top ten finishes. Highlighting her golfing resume is a second place finish at the American Junior Golf Association 2003 IRI Golf Group Oakridge Junior and second place run at the Texas Junior Golf Tour 2004 Invitational at Hyatt Hill Country.
