Red Raiders Meet UNLV on Saturday at 9 PM

Lubbock, Texas - Texas Tech travels to Las Vegas, Nevada to meet the Runnin' Rebels of UNLV on Saturday, December 17 at 9 PM in the Thomas and Mack Center for the Tenth Annual Las Vegas Showdown.
The game will be televised on the ESPN2. Brent Musburger will call the play-by-play. Steve Lavin will provide the game analysis.
John Harris will call the courtside action along with Andy Hipsher as analyst on the Texas Tech Sports Network (KKAM 1340 AM / KQBR 99.5 FM).
The second game of the Las Vegas Showdown double-header will feature Stanford vs. Virginia Tech. Tip-off will be 25 minutes after the Texas Tech - UNLV game.
The Red Raiders are 6-4 for the 2005-2006 season after dropping UT-Pan American 103-50 on Saturday afternoon at the United Spirit Arena. Junior Jarrius Jackson led the Raiders in scoring with 22 points. Jay also added six assists and six steals.
Dior Lowhorn had 19 points and Terry Martin added 13 points as ten Red Raiders scored in the game.
Texas Tech has two players in double figures with Jarrius Jackson averaging 18.2 points per game and Martin Zeno scoring 15.7 points per game. After ten games, the Raiders are averaging 74.9 points per game.
UNLV is 2-5 for the season. They won their opening game against Long Beach State (108-73) as well as their game against Hawaii (67-61). The Runnin' Rebels then lost their last five games. The Rebels lost to Nevada-Reno 68-61 at home and then dropped the next four games on the road (at Oklahoma State 80-62, at Oregon State 69-63, at Hawaii 78-72, and at Minnesota 72-67).
The Runnin' Rebels currently have two players averaging double figures (Louis Amundson 16.4 ppg and Michael Umeh 14.0 ppg). As a team, UNLV is averaging 71.4 points per outing.
Catch the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Dallas as they host the Arkansas Razorbacks in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Red Raider Christmas Classic on Wednesday, December 21, at the American Airlines Center. Tip-off will be at 9 PM.

Coach Bob Knight (Ohio State, 1962) enters his fifth season at the helm of the Raider program and has notched four consecutive 20+ wins in Lubbock. In 39 seasons of coaching, he has taken his teams to post-season play 36 times. Coach Knight numbers third among all coaches on the all-time career wins list with 860 victories. He is the youngest of the four coaches (Dean Smith-879, Adolph Rupp-876, Bob Knight-860, and Jim Phelan-830) and the only active coach to reach that remarkable plateau of 800 career victories.
