Lady Raiders Conclude Day One of the UNLV Tournament

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech loses to New Mexico, 5-2, in the first day of the UNLV Lady Rebel Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. The Lady Raiders will play again tomorrow at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Cigdem Duru and Katja Kovacic defeated Nora Quintal and Lucy Scott, 8-2. Tara Browning and Janet Durham fell to the No. 5 Maja Kovacek and Iva Gersic, 8-3. Michelle Heidbrink and Tiffany Robertson defeated Lakann Wagley and Erin Hunter, 8-6.
In singles play, Duru was defeated by No. 35 Maja Kovacek, 6-4, 6-0, at position number one, while Browning lost to Iva Gersic, 6-4, 6-3, in position number two. In position number three, Durham lost to Michelle Heidbrink, 6-3, 6-2, and in position number four, Nora Quintal bested Hunter, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. In position number five, Kovacic defeated Lucy Scott, 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6), while at the number six position Wagley beat Tiffany Robertson, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.
The Lady Raiders will play again tomorrow at 2 p.m. when they will face Cal State Northridge in Las Vegas, Nev.
