Men's Tennis Feels Confident About The HEB Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team will travel to Corpus Christi, Texas, Fri., March 4-6 for the 37th Annual HEB Collegiate Team Championships at the HEB Tennis Center. The No. 35 Red Raiders are 10-0 on the spring season.
The HEB Invitational will feature 14 Division 1 Men's Teams. Texas Tech is the #3 seed. This year;s top seed is No. 32 South Alabama, No. 37 Middle Tennessee is seeded second and the fourth seed is No. 52 Texas A&M Corpus-Christi. The Red Raiders will face Southeastern Louisiana at noon on Friday. Tech will face either Cornell or Alabama Burmingham on Friday at 6 p.m. Last year, the Red Raiders lost to South Alabama in the finals and the year before Tech won the entire tournament.
Tech comes off an amazing performance last weekend while playing in Seattle, Wash. The Red Raiders defeated No. 15 Washington, 4-3 and No. 48 Oregon, 4-3. Sophomore Bojan Szumanski is currently ranked No. 26 in singles.
"Our team feels confident after two big wins," said head coach Tim Siegel. "But now we have to take care of business for this weekend. It is going to be a grueling weekend, playing four matches in three days. The matches are going to be very challenging with two teams ranked above us and those not seeded are still very good teams. We are looking forward to the competition."
The Red Raiders will be in Malibu, Cali., Thur., March 17 to face Purdue at 1 p.m. Sun., March 20 they will compete against Fresno State and Clemson on Mon., March 21.
